About Us

Healthy Mind and Brain Center is a biofeedback clinic that uses multiple approaches to treating our clients.

From where it began

My entire childhood revolved around one goal:

Regina is passionate, not only about helping, but creating change in the lives of others. She is one who realizes that the desire for happiness is fundamental to all human beings. Regina’s love for psychology and the mind has led her to not only concentrate her studies on psychology, but in neuroscience as well.

She specializes in the treatment of Anxiety and other mental health disorders, and believes learning is the key to overcoming psychological distress. Her dedication to psychological healing and growth led her to establish the Healthy Mind & Brain Center that utilizes neurofeedback, psychoeducation and psychotherapy as its primary methods of treatment.

Regina holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, a Master’s in Social Work (MSW), and a Doctorate in Executive Leadership. She is also a Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW), and holds certifications in Neurofeedback, Applied Neuroscience, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Anxiety. Regina is currently working on her Ph.D. in Psychology with an emphasis on Cognition and Instruction.

Our Programs

COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)

HMBC teaches our clients the foundations of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is a form of therapy that works to change thoughts, emotions and behaviors, and has proven success in treating a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, marital and communication problems, alcohol, drug use and severe mental illness.

Our clients learn the CBT triangle, self-monitoring and a host of other techniques that can be used in the real world. HMBC and clients set S.M.A.R.T goals which means goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timely. Once a client completes the recommended

12-24 sessions of CBT, they will have the necessary skills to counsel themselves and get through future mental health issues on their own.

PSYCHOEDUCATION

Psychoeducation refers to interventions that aim to give clients knowledge about his or her condition. Learning is critical to the change process and the maintenance of desirable behaviors.

An evidenced-based approach dictates that for debilitating mental health conditions, a combined modality approach that blends therapy with education remains, by far, the best treatment in terms of outcome and eventual prognosis.

Healthy Mind & Brain Center aims to offer the most effective treatment available, and in doing so has created multiple learning platforms for our clients. It is through learning that maladaptive behaviors are formed, and through learning that maladaptive behaviors are resolved.

MINDFULNESS STRESS REDUCTION

At its core, MSR is training in mindfulness, which Kabat-Zinn has defined as “the awareness that arises by paying attention on purpose, in the present moment and non-judgmentally. Clients who participate in our MSR online courses learn valuable knowledge and skills in how to live in the present moment, regulate their emotions and gain control over their minds.

MEDITATION

Using meditation as treatment has helped hundreds of thousands of people around the globe recover from illness, resolve emotional conflicts and reach their optimal potential in mind, body, and spirit.

Teaching meditation techniques, as an alternative and supplemental treatment approach, is an integral part of what we do here at HMBC.

When you meditate, your rational thought processes, housed in your cortex, begin a quiet dialogue with your brain’s emotional centers, the hippocampus and amygdala, both of which are in your limbic system. When your cortex and limbic system agree that it is appropriate to relax, they relay the message to the hypo- thalamus, which connects the brain to the endocrine system.

This releases a flood of calming neurotransmitters and hormones, which soothe the entire body. The immune system then secretes its own molecules of information, some of which re- turn to the brain, helping to complete this circuitry of healing. You shift into a re- laxed alpha brain wave pattern, and your nervous system is dominated by the inhibitory parasympathetic branch.

When the parasympathetic nervous system is favored, you send relatively more nerve signals to your organs and glands of immunity, such as your thymus. As this occurs, you reach the ideal condition for healing.

HMBC teaches our clients mindfulness meditation, which aims to help with issues related to focus, attention, concentration, anxiety, high blood pressure, migraines and a host of other mental and physical conditions.
